[the world through my lens]
I LOVE LOVE LOVE taking pictures!!! You can ask the people who are around me the most about my photo craze. I like to randomly take out my camera whenever I feel like it is a photographic moment in my head. It doesn't even have to be anything special. There's just something about capturing a certain angle or certain moment that entices me and makes me happy! :D
Most of the pictures that I have posted in the first two blog entries are from my old phone (Sony Ericsson 880i) and the rest are from my old camera (Olympus Stylus 400). The camera I currently use is a Canon SD 880 IS which I love a lot. <3 I also use my phone to capture moments when I don't have my camera with me. I recently bought a DSLR (Canon Rebel XS)!:D
There is minor Picasa or Photoshop editing for some of the pictures. I know these aren't the best pictures in the world, but enjoy them anyway because they are special to me! :)
p.s. clicking on the pictures will let you look at them big version :)
The first place we visited was the Getty Center on gloomy, overcast day. I had a lot of trouble working with the manual settings on my dslr, so I decided to just switch to automatic. If only the sun came out and the clouds parted, it would have been a great time to experiment with the settings but this shall suffice. Cathy, Christine, Mandy, and I spent 3 hours of silliness and fun amongst flowers and amazing artwork.
As I was being frustrated with the manual setting on my camera, I attempted to look like I knew what I was doing as I fumbled with the settings when I really was confused. So I looked around to see if I could ask anybody else with a slr to help me out. I saw a guy with a nice camera but he was walking too fast, so that failed. Then I saw an old man with a slr but he was so engrossed with a certain flower for a longggg time I decided asking him also. Then I saw another guy with a slr who seemed like he knew what he was doing so I sort of saw which spots he took pictures at and such and then kind of "followed" him but not really. That was when I realized he was taking engagement pictures for a couple! That sent me into a "oh man I can't approach this guy, he's gonna think I'm dumb" mindset. I quickly took this shot from further away while he took a shot much closer up. I felt like a creeper without intentionally trying :( but I like this picture :) They're cute!
Nice view of the family and the city :)
I like genuine laughter :)
"Horizontally framed images are associated with serenity and peacefulness. Vertical images are usually associated with forcefulness or power. Experiment with both formats when deciding on a composition."
I didn't know that before so that's kinda cool. :)
Taken by Christine. Cathy, you make me laugh. haha :)

Doesn't this jellyfish just look majestic? I like the color gradient of the blues that contrasts the colors of the jellyfish :) pretty.
I don't know what to say about these little fellas. They're quite creepy looking and swam right up against the display window. -backs away-

Manta Ray coming out of the water to say hi :)
Super loud and scary parrots that fly into you and shoot poo everywhere in the confined cage area. traumatizing but they look cool :)
The beautiful lorikeet i couldn't take my eyes off of AND it says "Hello there!" to you as well.
As Cathy said, Nemo and black version of Nemo
Interesting design yah?
I liked the zebra striped fish in the back. Pretty cool lookin'!
There was a crowd of people standing around the tank so I went to see what was going on. As I walked up, I saw a HUGE crab just sitting there with a claw missing. That was kinda cool but I still wasn't sure what was so amusing about it. Then I looked further into the tank and saw that another crab had enclosed it's claws on a starfish, gripping it and seeming like it was going to eat it. BUT it failed. I don't think I would have wanted to see the crab eat the starfish. But...cool lighting in this tank :)
As I stood at this tank attempting to take a picture of the colorful fish, this little girl walked up next to me and tried to do the same. Her parents stood behind watching her/the fish and I heard the little girl's mom say to the dad, "Honey, we're gonna have great pictures for today." Hehe. Give a kid a camera for a day and see waht pictures they take!
Another interesting looking fish.
THE COOLEST TANK THERE. It had a bunch of Nemos and Dorys :D
